Project Description
The Ofsted Big Conversation brings together representatives of Early Years Childcare Providers and Ofsted across the UK. It is run on a regional basis, and its aim is twofold – to provide an opportunity for providers to raise areas of concern or queries with a representative from Ofsted, and to give Ofsted an opportunity to give sector representatives updates on policy changes and explain how it operates.
The North West steering group of the OBC asked Picture Engine to set up a website to allow them to sell tickets directly for their biannual events, rather than through a third party such as Eventbrite (allowing them to keep more of the money!).
Web Design
Previously the NWOBC had not had a website – they simply sold tickets via Eventbrite, and did publicity and marketing via social media. The event is attended by hundreds of early years professionals from across the region, and the commission being paid to Eventbrite for ticket sales was more than enough to pay the cost of a new website. The first challenge was therefore to assemble some content! By combining some of the social media output with lines and some photos provided by the steering group, Picture Engine was able to set up a design scheme that will allow the site to grow as additional content becomes available.
Event Ticketing
The main objective of this site was cost-effective ticket sales. To facilitate this we installed WooCommerce, added events ticketing and calendar functions and linked up the payment account. There is also a section for ticketholder-only content, allowing access to exclusive content from keynote speakers and industry specialists to those who have bought tickets for the Big Conversation open meetings.
We commissioned Picture Engine to design and host a website for the NWOBC. Andrew took the time to fully understand our requirements and the finished website was on point with our spec. From our first meeting to completion was prompt and professional, this confirmed our decision to use Picture Engine was the right move
