Website Content Creation & Editing

Strangely, one of the things a lot of clients find hardest is creating content – writing about themselves and the things they do or sell. At Picture Engine we can also help you create content for your website.

One of the biggest challenges in business is marketing. After all, we all know what makes us special and why we stand out from everybody else, right? But explaining that to everyone else is hard

Let Picture Engine help you. Not only can we generate some great copy for your website and source attention grabbing images to make it stand out visually, but we can do it in a way that helps with your SEO. We know how to phrase things and structure the text in a way that appeals to search engines, and we know how to tag and title images so that they are relevant to your copy. This is a direct quote from Google’s Webmaster guidelines:

Creating compelling and useful content will likely influence your website more than any of the other factors

Copywriting

Item number 3 on the SEO page is all about creating content that your visitors want to read. For clients who don’t have the time or the tools to create a decent amount of text, we can help with copywriting. Although of course we wouldn’t claim to be experts on every sort of business her at Picture Engine, we think we are pretty good at writing! We like to use some of Mark Twain’s rules* – although they were designed for writing fiction, some of them apply equally to any sort of writing and they include the following:

The author shall

  • Say what he is proposing to say, not merely come near it.
  • Use the right word, not its second cousin.
  • Eschew surplusage.
  • Not omit necessary details.
  • Use good grammar.
  • Employ a simple and straightforward style.

So if you’re struggling to come up with text for your website, ask about Picture Engine copywriting and let’s see if we can sprinkle some Mark Twain magic on your content!

*These “rules” first appeared in one of his literary criticism essays in which he absolutely lacerates the American author James Fenimore Cooper for breaching, well, all of them. If you’ve got the time for an internet rabbit hole, you can read more here.

Images

One thing just about every web designer – in fact every designer – will agree on is that great design is much, much easier when it starts with some great images. Whether it’s photographs of the products you plan to sell, samples of your photography or art work, pictures of work you’ve done (before and after shots are a great idea) or just some stock images to jazz up the text a bit, good imagery can make a website.

Well configured images can help with your SEO as well. Setting up the image name properly, configuring the “alt” tags (which are what display if the image can’t or are read out by screen readers for the visually impaired) and using images suitable and relevant to the topic are all good practice.

Good job then that Picture Engine can help you with you images, including:

  • Amending or touching up photos supplied by you
  • Arranging a photo shoot from one of our photography partners
  • Providing stock photos or graphics from one our image libraries

And in case you’re thinking “stock images will look rubbish” we’ve arranged a little gallery of images from in and around Huddersfield which you can have a quick browse through below!
